SINGAPORE, 5 April 2023 – With the pandemic accelerating the pace of digital adoption and last mile payment services becoming more efficient and common place, the number of customers using the FairPrice Group (FPG) app and online store for everything food – from grocery shopping to paying for meals at Kopitiams have increased twofold over the last 12 months.
In the last year, Singapore residents have ordered and enjoyed more than 3 million trays of eggs, 1.2 million bags of rice, 700,000 cups of coffee and tea, and 68,000 breakfast sets through the FPG app and online store.
Vipul Chawla, Group CEO, FairPrice Group, said that the FPG app recorded a 100 per cent year-on-year growth in its digitally connected customers. The app is now used by over 1 million customers monthly[1] and users are growing steadily.
“FairPrice Group is committed to serving the community in value and ease for everything food. Since the pandemic, we have seen an acceleration in FPG app usage and customers are now much more comfortable with digital modes of payment and engagement. We are delighted that the FPG app and online store is well-received by our customers and will continue to strengthen our offerings so that we continue to deliver everything food, everywhere,” he said.
The FPG app provides a one-stop seamless omni-channel shopping experience where customers can pay, save, earn rewards and offset their purchases with Linkpoints[2].
Customers see value in transitioning stored value from physical Kopitiam cards to FPG app
Since the beginning of March[3] about 400,000 Kopitiam customers with physical Kopitiam cards have transitioned to the FPG app. Early data has revealed that seven in 10 of these customers have transferred the balance from their Kopitiam cards to Linkpoints on the FPG app.
Since then, customers have enjoyed about SGD600,000 in value through using their Linkpoints to offset meals at Kopitiam. This is in addition to the 10 percent discount which they enjoy when paying through the FPG app.
In addition, Kopitiam customers on the FPG app can also skip the queue by pre-ordering their meals using the Click and Collect service across 26 participating Kopitiam outlets.
Customers who have transferred their stored value onto the FPG app can also access the stored value in Linkpoints to pay for their groceries at all FairPrice stores islandwide.
Providing a seamless digital integration journey for our customers
To help customers on their digital journey, service ambassadors and digital buddies[4] have also been deployed at selected supermarkets and food courts to provide assistance to customers who may require help in getting acquainted with the app’s omni-channel functions such as accessing e-vouchers and various new time-saving self-checkout technologies.

[2] LinkPoints are loyalty points that can be accumulated every time a customer spends at FairPrice Group businesses such as supermarkets, Kopitiams and other Link partners. For reference, 100 Linkpoints = $1. For example, a $3 breakfast set at the food court for NTUC union members could be offset with 300 Linkpoints
